Dolphins' Odell Beckham Jr. Placed on PUP List, to Miss First Four Games - Seasports

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will begin the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, as announced by the team on Tuesday. Beckham, who underwent surgery for an undisclosed injury during the offseason, will miss at least the first four games of the season.

The Dolphins were aware that a stint on the PUP list was a possibility when they signed Beckham, according to reports from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Despite the injury, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel remains optimistic, stating that Beckham’s condition is being monitored daily.

“I’m hopeful about a lot of things, again I’m not nervous about it,” McDaniel said when asked about Beckham’s injury, following the team’s final preseason game. “I know he’s feeling very optimistic about how things are developing, but you just take it one day at a time. Like I said before, I’m not at a position of nervousness because of the way he’s been involved,” McDaniel added, as reported by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Beckham, 31, joined the Dolphins in May on a one-year, $3-million contract. Last season, he played for the Baltimore Ravens, recording 565 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games.

With Beckham sidelined, the Dolphins will rely on Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle as their primary wide receivers. Braxton Berrios and Malik Washington are also on the depth chart, while River Cracraft is on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury and will miss part of the regular season.
