Lewandowski Scores Twice as Barca Thrash Sevilla to Stay Top of La Liga - Seasports

Barcelona maintained their lead at the top of La Liga with a resounding 5-1 victory over Sevilla on Sunday, keeping three points clear of Real Madrid ahead of next weekend’s Clasico.

Robert Lewandowski and Pablo Torre each scored two goals, while Pedri Gonzalez also found the net for Barcelona. Lewandowski’s goals brought his tally to 12 in just 10 league matches this season. His first came from a penalty after Raphinha was brought down in the box, and he later added a second goal before halftime, flicking in Raphinha’s long-range effort.

Barcelona’s dominance continued in the second half, with Torre scoring the fourth goal after a deflection. Sevilla managed a consolation goal through Stanis Idumbo late in the match, but it was a disappointing return for Francisco Garcia Pimienta, who had previously spent nearly three decades with the club.

Despite facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League next week and a crucial match against Real Madrid on Saturday, coach Hansi Flick fielded a strong lineup. Gavi, who returned after an 11-month absence due to injury, came on as a substitute and received a warm welcome from the fans.

In the match, Barcelona took control early, with Lewandowski converting the penalty and Pedri doubling the lead from the edge of the box. The team’s offensive play continued to create opportunities, with Raphinha’s disallowed goal and a long-range attempt from Lamine Yamal that was saved by Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland.

With this victory, Barcelona solidified their position at the top of La Liga, showcasing their attacking prowess and depth ahead of key fixtures.
