Auburn will start quarterback Payton Thorne against Oklahoma on Saturday, according to a source cited by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Thorne and Hank Brown were in competition for the starting position following Auburn’s performance in a 24-14 loss to Arkansas in Week 4. Thorne entered the game after Brown started, completing 13 of 22 pass attempts for 213 yards, along with two touchdowns and one interception.
In the 2024 season, Thorne, a fifth-year senior, has amassed 700 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions, completing 57.1% of his passes. Meanwhile, Brown has recorded a completion percentage of 62.8%, totaling 403 yards, six touchdowns, and three interceptions, with all three interceptions occurring during the game against Arkansas.
Thorne began the season as the starter, but Brown took over for the last two games. Together, they have guided the Tigers to a 2-2 record this season.
