Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is recovering from two gunshot wounds following a shooting incident in Denver last week. Reynolds and another man were targeted after leaving a strip club, according to reports.

“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting on Friday in Denver and received treatment for minor injuries,” the Broncos said in a statement to The Associated Press. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

Denver police confirmed the arrests of two suspects, Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, in connection with the shootings, which occurred at around 3 a.m. on October 18 along Interstate 25, south of downtown. The suspects are being held under investigation for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Authorities are working to identify potential additional suspects, and the arrest reports remain sealed to protect the investigation’s integrity.

According to local news station KUSA-TV, the shooting took place after Reynolds and the other man left Shotgun Willies, a local strip club. Reynolds was shot once in his left arm and once in the back of his head. Despite the serious nature of the incident, Reynolds’ injuries were described as minor.

At the time of the shooting, Reynolds was on injured reserve due to a broken finger and had not traveled with the Broncos to New Orleans for their game on October 17, which ended in a Broncos win over the Saints. Reynolds has continued working out on a side field during team practices this week. Players on injured reserve are not required to speak with the media.

Reynolds is in his ninth NFL season and first with Denver, having signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Broncos in the offseason. So far, he has appeared in five games, made one start, and caught 12 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown. Prior to joining the Broncos, he spent three seasons with the Detroit Lions and previously played for the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Texas A&M.
